Metal spiral bound. Stiff card wrappers which when opened out show a panorama of the New Lambeth Bridge and its relationship to Thames House. 240 x340mm Promotional booklet produced at the time of initial construction a description of the buildings which could be used to promote it office accommodation. 40 sepia photographs with captions. Shows parts of the building furnished and unfurnished. Effectively the whole building was two blocks linked by a bridge structure. At the time of publication, the offices of Pearson and Dorman Long Limited and the International Nickel Company of Canada Limited were in occupation. Their suites are illustrated. In a slightly worn custom made envelope. Thames House served as the ICI Headquarters till 1994. Part has been occupied by MI5.

xxxi + 401pp illustrated with 374 b/w plates of the major modern buildings in the USA. The focus is on public buildings including banks, town halls and capitols, churches, expositions, court houses, clubs, office buildings and related commercial structures and hotels although also includes a large selection of houses. Contemporary with the construction of many of the buildings features this is a useful look at the new city buildings of the USA in the inter war period and features all the major firms as well as others who have sunk into oblivion. Green cloth. Square 4to. Gilt lettered. Slightly rubbed on spine. This copy has stamps of the City of Portsmouth surveyors office on fep and prelims else a very good copy.

London Nonesuch Press 1925

2 volumes. pp. Vol I xv, [i], 299, [iii]; Vol II [viii], 301-588, [viii]; Vellum Spines. Patterned paper covered boards. Corners and edges slightly bumped else very good copy. Printed on Dutch paper with the Nonesuch Press watermark. Illustrations by Edward McKnight Kauffer, some tinted in colour typography and design by Francis Meynell, McKnight Kauffer rented studio space in Bloomsbury next door to Francis Meynell's Nonesuch Press, with whom he was good friends. The volumes illustrate a close relationship between typographer and illustrator. The effect is of an ancient portfolio updated. For instance the title page, originally by Christian Le Blon 1638 is neatly updated using the same structural arrangement of the page. No 648 of 750 copies. The book was first published in 1621, and was a milestone medical textbook on the subject of melancholia.

63pp illus with 16 b/w plates, quarter cloth with decorated boards. Good copy. Overprinted but incomplete and rather glassine wrapper present on this copy with list of upcoming publications by Wishart and Co. on inner fold of glassine wrapper. Title of book also printed on the overprinted wrapper. An appreciation of architecture is a strong element in Byron's writings and he was an articulate advocate for the preservation of historic buildings and founding member of the Georgian Group. Best known for the book "Road to Oxiana" but this relatively early polemic is informative about his views on architectural history and art history in his short life. Issue 106:xliv +101-144pp illustrated Issue 107 xxx +vxv period ads and some texts, [2] 147-192 xxvii-xliv. Both include detailed articles and photos on: Cheap Cottages Exhibition. Other articles in no 106 inlcude pieces on on leadwork, Irish ecclesiastical architecture and the Hague Peace Palace. Issue 107 includes articles on architectural education [pp154-169]; the London traffic commission report; Iona Cathedral; church of St Mary-the-Virgin, Summerstown; St John's Institute; Irish ecclesiastical architecture; book reviews: Stiff printed paper covers, paginated with monochrome illustration, black and red text and titles. 360x285mm. Spines worn head and tail, small loss to the tail of the 1907 binding and the cover has some light marks and is slightly foxed. Useful review of the exhibition at Letchworth which is the lead article in the magazine. Both issues have substantial sections on section on the Cheap Cottages Exhibition. Within the preliminary pages of issue 107 includes pp x-xvi amongst the advertisements, the Report of the Judges. These issues of the journal were made contemporaneously with the exhibition so are period reviews of the buildings.

First (and only) Edition. iii, 95pp, with 3 b/w engraved, fold out plates. 8vo (20cm by 13cm.) Half calf with marble paper boards and gilt title on spine. Small stamp on top right IFC for binder Kerr & Richardson Ltd Glasgow. Top of spine rubbed, and book board edges a little worn, some foxing on inside front cover and initial pages else a very clean cop. Rev. Thomas Wright wrote three books on the subject of farming and land drainage over a 19 year period. This, the second of his writings, preceded his 1808 publication 'The Formation and Management of Floated Meadows.' Useful on methods of draining and flooding meadows, produced at a time when the landscape movement too was active in engineering lakes, water meadows and fish ponds as part of reconfiguring parklands. Uncommon.
