A sumptuous facsimile edition, the first published edition thus, of the surviving Red Books; Anthony House, Cornwall; Attingham Park, Shropshire and Sheringham Hall, Norfolk, with an explanatory volume by Edward Mallins containing recent photographs by Eric de Mare. Repton's drawings are meticulously reproduced in collotype and printed on wove paper as close as possible to the original Whatman stock.

Recalls the house in its heyday and provides some details of its architecture which involved Smirke, Benjamin Wyatt and Charles Barry. It was hailed as one of the finest palaces of London. The Crown lease of Stafford House was sold back to the Crown in 1912 by the 4th Duke of Sutherland when it still had about 28 years of the lease still to run. It subsequently became Lancaster House and the London Museum. It is now a government building used for grand receptions. From the library of Gavin Stamp with his bookplate.

A brilliant example of journals at the time demonstrating the whole range of interests the Victorians held in design matters. Cassell's Technical Educator was the most successful of the Victorian self-help part-works. It was a companion to Cassell's New Popular Educator. It appears to have come out in fortnightly issues over a period of 2 years - although most surviving copies seem to have been sold as two or four volume sets. The intended readership was evidently the upwardly mobile class of skilled artisans and mechanics.

Tower Bridge was the creation of architect Sir Horace Jones and civil engineer Sir John Wolfe Barry. It took eight years to complete and was officially opened on 30 June 1894 by the Prince and Princess of Wales This is a very useful technical account of the bridge construction by Tuit who was 'Engineer to Sir William Arrol and Co., one of the firms of Contractors for the bridge construction.
