Ann Macbeth (1875-1948) was a British author, embroiderer and head of the Embroidery department at the Glasgow School of Art, from 1908 to 1921. Hard to find.

Due to revelations about the sculptor's personal life, Eric Gill Statues, including Prospero & Ariel on the BBC Broadcasting House have been attacked begging the question about whether the artist and the person can be separated. This pamphlet reviews his principles of design.

The dust wrapper is illustrating Comper's church interior at St Mary's Wellingborough. Comper (1864-1960 was one of the great Gothic Revival architects. The study includes a complete gazetteer of some 600 entries and a reprint of Comper's influential essay "Atmosphere of a Church".

176pp illus with b/w plates. Square 4to. Laminated wrappers. Very good copy. Hard to find assessment and review of Owen William's work as an architect and engineer. He is best known for his work at Wembley Stadium, and as the principal engineer for Gravelly Hill Interchange (known popularly as Spaghetti Junction) as well as a number of key modernist buildings, including the Express Building in Manchester and Boots D10 Building in Nottingham.

Bound in an unprinted French-folded dark blue Japanese Mingei handmade laid paper cover. Very good. Paper wraps a little sun bleached. Very scarce to find a copy of this which is bound, after publisher Anthony Baker shunned the publication for its poor printing quality. Most of the copies of this publication remain uncollated, unfolded sheets, without covers.

These gatherings produced with illustrations at the printing department of the College of Science and Technology. Illustrations by Margaret Turner. Produced by Christopher Day and John Naylor. Colophon indicates there was to be a numbered edition of this publication. Preserved in white paper wrapper contemporary with the pages publication. Unbound.

A couple of the b/w plates are loose. Good. And a comprehensive overview of most of the houses in the county. Bookplate of Josceline Grove on front paste down.
