Untitled sample book of colour lithographs which could be selected for use graphic design projects, probably for chocolate boxes. The first two images show chocolate box lids. Paper wrappers. Perfect Bound, name of firm on upper wrapper. C310x250mm. Green cloth spine. This is rather worn. There are c63 sentimental chocolate box type images, probably inter war. The firm of Sutton Sharpe and Co specialized in designing, printing, and publishing. In 1901 they were situated at 145 Quen Victoria Road London. The location of the firm in the inter war period is not known.

Arthur Dearden

Mounted on stiff card, four original photographs with impress of the photographer beneath the photographs and address. Arthur Dearman of 46 Church Street Blackpool. images 180 x 230mm 7 x 9 inches, mounts are 310x 230mm. [12 x10 inches] The images reveal the cluttered end of the 19th century look of a guest house. Long dining tables fill the main room with bentwood and other dining chairs in brown furniture style and there are images of the key living rooms including a large sitting room packed with pictures, rugs and cushions etc. Deardon evidently had a photography business also taking cabinet photographs and portraits.

175pp illustrated throughout with b/w photographs and engravings. Small 4to boards with illustrated dustwrapper, a very good copy. An early collaborative venture between Gavin Stamp and Colin Amery which identified over one hundred of London's most significant Victorian buildings from St Pancreas Station and Hotel to the Infant Orphan's Asylum in Wanstead. This book provides an explanation in part for the huge collection of London related commentaries of the period that were illustrated with photographic plates and which Gavin Stamp had in his collection.

Cited in Parr and Badger's "The Photobook: A History Volume II pp. 250-51: "in the finest book to come out of the Vietnam War. Influential in shifting public opinion about the war when first issued.

v + 116pp. Printed wrappers. Very slightly worn at head of spine else a very good copy. This is the official report of the Conference held on February 9th and 10th 1917 covering aspects of rural life including planning, village halls, playing fields, facilities, education etc. List of delegates included. The Rural Organisation Council was established in 1916 by some 20 organisations who aimed to improve the quality of rural life. Draper was involved as an organiser representing the Garden Cities and Town Planning Council.

128pp, b/w plates. 4to. With very good dust wrapper. A great collection of images by Maier who took huge numbers of photographs alongside working as a nanny. From the 1950s until the 1990s took over 100,000 photographs worldwide and was discovered only after she died by John Maloof following a purchase of a box of her photographic negatives and championed her work. Like new.

Advertising leafs at the back relate to the publication of Walker's Quarterly.

This is an early assessment of his highly regarded, often minimalist work. Series of projects are illustrated and described, following the introductory section which includes a short essay by Arets. Text in Dutch and English.

Rail Romances 1999

250pp illustrated. Purple boards, very good dust wrapper.. Biography of the author's uncle, founder of the well-known Bassett-Lowke model-making business in Northampton. Drawing on material from within the family in addition to wide range of documentary resources, Wenman Joseph Bassett-Lowke commissioned Charles Rennie Mackintosh in 1916 to remodel his house at 78 and Peter Behrens, to design his second home, New Ways in 1926 both of which are discussed in this book. The firm is significant in many ways not least of which are the models it produced for Abercrombie's London plans.
