12mo Original gray paper covered boards, cloth backstrip title label in read and black pasted onto front board. 22pp + 2pp including advertisement for Heal's catalogue. Boards a little dusty and cloth a little more so else good copy. End papers slightly browned. Book by the typographer and journalist Joseph Thorp (1873-1962) offering independent polemical notes on taste, the traditions of Heals as a source of good taste in design and "directing inspiration" Lovely wood block full page illustrations throughout. Thorp moved form working at the Arden Press. He was involved in the Curwen Press and wrote later in life a biography of Eric Gill.
