Superb insights into contemporary house keeping, arrangement of rooms etc. Includes contemporary issues such as electric lighting, the arrangement of entrance halls and indeed all the rooms of the house. Peel wrote a series of books aimed at improving the lot of women in the home over her career and was given the OBE for her work in the first world war relating to women and the war and food preparation etc. She deserves to be better known for her contributions in writing and on government committees relating to home economics.
