Suddenly it is Summer

We have returned from a week in London where we visited the book fairs and related events including Photo London, back at the fabulously renovated Olympia Hall, Firsts at the Saatchi Gallery and the PBFA London Fair where we were exhibiting. We sold lots of lovely things but have replaced them with some interesting items on art and design. My favorite purchase is a small and beautifully executed water colour of the Colon of the Grande Armeé Boulogne, constructed 1804-1809 and painted about 1811 or certainly before 1830 when this grand column was surmounted by a statue of Napoleon. This lovely image will be for sale soon when it is mounted. The column still exists today but is now set in rather regimented gardens and an avenue approach added in the 1840s and recently restored.  The image I bought makes it seem as if the column was really very close to the beach.

Back in York now we will be opening the shop through the summer and planning our exhibit for the York National Book Fair which is our next fair on the 11th and 12th of September. See our fair details for more information about this event or the York Book Fair website
