Full calf, rebacked with new spine, raised bands and gilt lettered black label. Good copy. Pricke's translation was first published in 1672 (ESTC r1804); this is a re-issue. Last three leaves are an advertisement for other books printed for Robert Pricke. An attractive copy of this abundantly illustrated standard work on perspective drawing.

xlv, 464 pp: title-page vignette, 45 plates of plans (most folding). Quarter blue cloth. Repaired at head and base of spine to make good copy. One or two plates badly folded into the book and one with short tear else vg indeed. This was the first book to systematically deal with the planning of country houses. The book draws on actual examples of houses constructed or under construction. Alongside the house there is considerations of related offices such as stables. Robert Kerr was at the time, Professor of the Arts of Construction at Kings College London. Ex libris, Michael Manser with his and José's bookplate on front paste down.

Frontis, xvi + 188pp. Frontis shows the principal front and plan of the apartments of the Earl of Burlington's House at Chiswick. [ first time this image appears as the frontispiece to this book]. On front paste down states "John Wilson His Book". Rear paste down gives name in pencil of a later owner 1767 Richard Dickinson. Verso of title page has contemporary naive drawing on it, some wormholes to page edges in heart of the book. Full calf, repaired at head of spine and with new spine label. Harris 587

Original blind stamped cloth. Red edged title page, cxxxv +(1) + 252pp. Corners bumped. Repaired at head and base of spine. Bookplate of the Library of the Central Council for the Care of Churches. Title page and next three pages worn at edges else good copy of this study written as context to the growing interest in ecclesiology by the Camden Society. The original book was written in 1286. This translation covers the first book of eight which comprised the whole. The first part deals with the church, altar, pictures, bells, churchyard, etc. The whole is a key treatise on the ritual of the medieval church.

The book commences with an overview of temples and churches from the earliest times. Bardwell advocates the Italianate as his preferred style for Protestant church architecture. Bardwell 's career as an architect was much taken up with improvement of buildings and planning in London.
