The works represented are wide-ranging, embracing famous masterpieces such as the Queen Mary Psalter, the Alphonso, De Lisle, Peterborough, Gorleston and Luttrell Psalters, as well as a diversity of Chronicles, Apocalypses, Hours, Missals, and an early Encyclopedia.

He played a part in many of the institutions where Ruskin's ideas flourished.

Some foxing to endpapers, Stamp of Ellery, Anderson and Rosier on fep. Collection of measured drawings and cross-sections taken from major buildings of post-Reformation England, including: Hardwick Hall, , Broughton Hall, Haddon Hall, Knole House, Hatfield House, Bolsover Castle, Clopton House, Thorpe Hall, Farnham Castle, Hampton Court, Chelsea Hospital, various churches and Oxford and Cambridge Colleges. An impressive attempt to trace the development of specifically English Renaissance design, and to introduce its 'picturesqueness and originality' to a contemporary audience.

    29pp description on the exhibition and the arrangements for African participants in terms of accommodation, facilities, trips etc. Fascinating period report describing the development of the project for a village and pavilion representing the Gold Coast and West African colonies. The London Gold Coast Committee was presided over by Lady Guggisberg then John Maxwell. The exhibit was designed and constructed by MacAlpine and the whole report written from a British perspective. The report includes very useful insights into how ethnic groups were involved in the exhibition. Lists those who loaned material, a list divided racially between British and African lenders. Flimsy wrapper which are partially detached and chipped.

There are 50 photographs in the main body of the book in sepia showing scenes from the production by Paul Derval. Also includes period ads. Hard to find.

Paste down title on upper board. 4to. Loosely inserted pencil plan and elevation of a theatre, possibly drawn by Revoil. Edges rubbed and some scattered foxing throughout. Work of surveying the antiquities of Arles and Orange, at the time when Mérimée created the Monuments service, by the architect Cariste, who oversaw the restoration of the l'arc d'Orange. Henry Revoil, Architect (1822–1900) renowned architect in church restorations and historic monuments as well as an author and surveyor of monuments.

It was established as an association of manufacturers in 1899. The Wallpaper Manufacturers Ltd. became Reed Decorative Products Ltd in 1965. The Whitworth Art Gallery in Manchester hold the major archive of samples.

The firm, known as McCaw, Stevenson & Orr, prospered and expanded into larger premises in Linenhall St.; much of the success of the Linenhall Works was based on products developed by Stevenson. He patented several inventions; in 1880, he took out a patent for coloured transparent window decorations with the trademark 'Glacier'.

    28pp. Landscape 16mo Decorated wrappers. Upper wrapper a little foxed. Illustrated with sepia photographs which document the factory, Impington Hall, [ run at the time as an educational and social centre for Chivers staff but demolished in the 1950s] farms and orchards where the produce was grown. Lovely small item. Text describes the history of the firm, its factory, and orchards and the role of the company in the local community. Great, if small, documentary photographs. For most of the 20th century Chivers was the leading jam manufacturers in the UK but is now owned by the Boyne Group although the group still use the original name.

Previous owners name written in neat hand, along with an earlier dedication to a Jean Fraser. Good. Some minor foxing internally, and upper hinge cracked. Boards age worn and marked or nicked in some places. A good copy nonetheless, of an important and influential book which contributed to a revival of interest in Celtic art.

Loosely inserted into the Brief Survey of Objects of Grpahic art 16pp 8vo stapled Original printed wrappers. A very bright copy. Together these two items provide an important perspective on the production of this pioneer printing establishment under the direction of Alois Auer [ 1813-1869] Austrian printer, inventor and botanical illustrator. At the Great Exhibition, the display included Auer's collection of the Lord's Prayer in 608 languages, chomo-lithography…
