Wakefield The Fleece Press 2014

Fleece Press published these together in a very long accordion-fold book measuring 275mm square and extending to a gigantic 8 metres long. They are hard-bound in a design using the water colours, and held in a slipcase with a label. The artist has drawn a title page specially for the book, and has signed each of the 250 copies on the colophon. The images are of the transferware pottery – plates, mugs and jugs – found on her dresser. Loosely inserted in this copy is the original prospectus for the book with colour paste down illustrations.

Limited edition to 330 copies. Loosely inserted is the prospectus for the publication which is an accordian style fold out with tipped in colour images. Records the work of Anthony Gross as a war artist. Reviews his travels and works from the Home Front in Britain, Europe, North Africa, the Middle East, the Indian subcontinent and Burma. Fine.

Best known for his wartime work, Cole's watercolour technique was much influenced by Ravilious, his tutor (with Bawden) at the RCA. Fine.

Unpaginated Number 30 of 300 copies set in 14 point Van Dijck by Neil Winter and printed by Patrick Randle at Nomad Letterpress in Whittington on Zerkall mold made paper. Bound in decorated paper, based on a hinge design from the church. Preserved in slipcase. Fine. Signed on the colophon by both wood engravers. Abergail Rorer is a well-known American wood engraver and in this publication worked alongside Miriam Macgregor who lives at Whittington and produces work at the Whittington Press. Beautifully produced book.

Hanborough, Oxford, Inky Parrot Press 2018

161pp + colophon; illustrations in colour throughout; Fine. A fascinating study, beautifully produced in the Artist's Choice series style. Includes essays by Peter Davidson & Michael Hall. Loosely inserted is the Prospectus for the standard edition book, the prospectus for the special edition with formed part of 35 copies with a separate folder of colour prints, the original receipt for this copy and note on a card from Alan Power to the book's recipient. Number 86 of 196 signed by Alan Powers on the colophon.

Type is Bulmer and the paper is 175gsm Zerkall mould made. Binding at the Fine Bindery. With loosely inserted additional signed print, number slipped in at the end dated 1999 "With the swans Cheltenham.". One of 100 copies. This is number 23, signed by the author.

One of 140 copies , (from an edition of 160 copies) printed on Magnani paper, title-page and captions to facing verso of each illustration printed in shades of brown. A very attractive book from the Press, comprising illustrations featured in various Folio Society publications but of better definition here.

Illustrations by George Him, who by this time had split from his partnership with the artist Jan Hewitt which ended in 1955 when Hewitt left to pursue a painting career.
