Produced to accompany an exhibition at the Architectural Association. Yerbury witnessed the rise of the modern movement and recorded it thus. One of the only publications documenting his life and work in this key period.

Le Corbusier examines the architecture and people of New York. He loves the latter but deems the architecture haphazard. He imagines an improved New York.

Has been folded with single crease mark vertically across all pages. Experimental metal prefabricated houses erected and sponsored by the British Iron and Steel Federation and designed by Frederick Gibberd. Fascinating item.

80pp, illustrated. Stiff illustrated grey covers with black lettering, binders tape covered perfect binding. Overprinted glassine wrappers with titles in Russian and English. Glassine does not quite match up with titles on the card covers. Produced to coincide with an exhibition of original drawings by young soviet architects held from 10 November to 10 December 1988 at London's Architectural Association.

London Architectural Association Box 4 2004

[14] pamphlet with introductory text and large colour images + 18 large colour plates. Large square 4to in presentation box with decorated colour title on front. Box is a little dusty with small nick on lower edge else very good copy. The 18 plates are each composed of nine Polaroid images that can be assembled in any arrangement to form a composite work, called Nine Times. The images on these plates were the most controversial of Holmes' work at the time of publication, in both form and content: unlikely combinations of fragments of contemporary living -- urban waste, trucks, flowers, animals and images culled from the TV screen.

Metal spiral bound. Stiff card wrappers which when opened out show a panorama of the New Lambeth Bridge and its relationship to Thames House. 240 x340mm Promotional booklet produced at the time of initial construction a description of the buildings which could be used to promote it office accommodation. 40 sepia photographs with captions. Shows parts of the building furnished and unfurnished. Effectively the whole building was two blocks linked by a bridge structure. At the time of publication, the offices of Pearson and Dorman Long Limited and the International Nickel Company of Canada Limited were in occupation. Their suites are illustrated. Thames House served as the ICI Headquarters till 1994. Part has been occupied by MI5.

Rear inner hinge a little shaky else very good with good but slightly worn dust wrapper. Hard to find in the dust wrapper which contributes to the art deco style of this book. Dedicated to Oscar Kauffman and other photographers and contributors also noted. USA edition. Published in parallel with The Architecture of Pleasure 1 - Modern Theatres and Cinemas by Batsford in the UK.

First edition. Frontis, xix + 564pp including an addenda on the electric telegraph. Small 8vo. Quarter calf, gilt lettering, marbled boards, end papers and edges. Very nice copy although a little rubbed on corners. Weale developed an extensive architectural and technical publishing business during his lifetime. This rudimentary study was part of a series which extended to 130 volumes on various technical and design subjects.

Text pages internally have scattered foxing particularly affecting the prelims. Spine reglued where the original glue had perished. Contributors include C R Ashbee, Ballie Scott, Edwin Lutyens, G L Sutcliffe and others. Superb frontis of a London mansion block by Frank T Verity who wrote the text with Edwin T Hall and Gerald C Horsley. Colour ills include mansion blocks in London and superb double page spread of Heathcote Hall, Ilkley.
