Illustrates four Gerald Summer designs along with the works of other designers across a range of fields including Keith Murray in the glass section.

Unpaginated. 20pp. b/w plates + line ills. 4to wrappers. Illustrations show examples of the products produced by the firm for the architects Sir Edwin Cooper, T.C. Howitt, H.P. Creswell & W.A. Forsyth, M. EyreWalker & A.W. Harwood, C.H. Croxford, F. Lacey, W. Campbell Jones, W. Pite & Son & Fairweather, C.H. Slatter, and J.E. Rowlands. J P White are best known for their garden furniture and domestic work so this is an interesting departure from their main area of work. It also gives a list of Hospitals where the company supplied wood doors.

20pp illustrated with b/w plates, period ads and colour centre fold, Le Ballet Bourbon. Maroon paper wrappers with gilt titles 240x310mm. Upper wrapper has stamp pasted down from the Exposition Internationale Paris 1937. Worn at edges and the outer fold of wrapper is rubbed. Hard to find.

Designers included James Gardner, Sir Hugh Casson, Patrick Gwynne, Osbert Lancaster, Russell Page, John Piper, with Horticultural Work by London County Council Parks Designer. This is the 1952 guide with variant front cover from the 1951 guide and with new material. Two further fold out coloured day programmes included and loosely inserted.

The decorated title page echoes the dust wrapper design This book was the result of Barbara Jones extensive wanderings to locate garden buildings which at the time of publications was not so fashionable as it is today.

A general introduction gives the history and development of stained glass, and four chapters trace Wright's work in the medium, outlined chronologically from 1889 to 1936. The last four chapters examine specific areas of the decorative arts, including light screens: murals, mosaics, sculptural panels and tableware; the work of Orlando Giannini, and Luxfer Prisms. Supplementary information is provided by the detailed lists in the appendices, and a bibliography and glossary conclude the book.

487 illustrations in b/w. Quarter moroco, marbled boards and end papers. Gilt decorated spine with raised bands. Good copy. Signed on the half title by Eliza Gutch. Also has her bookplate on front paste down. Founding member of the Folklore Society but with particular York associations, she was the last private owner of Holgate Windmill, and her children sold the Mill on her death to the City of York Council for preservation. It operates today as an historic site. She died at Holgate Lodge on 17 March 1931. Also has the bookplate dated 1964 of Catherine and David Green. Attractive association copy.

Previous owner's signature on upper corner of front wrapper. Scarce publication.
