  • [HEARTFIELD, John.] TUCHOLSKY. Kurt,
    Deutschland, Deutschland Uber Alles

    Berlin Neuer Deutscher Verlag 1929

231pp, illustrated with numerous b/w photographs, 11 photomontage images by John Heartfield etc. 232 x 187mm. Later stiff card bright yellow wrappers onto which has been pasted the original wrappers, the whole stabalized by new end papers. This rebinding sympathetic to the original form of the book. Half title and title page has evidence of an old damp mark to leading edge but the text unaffected. The text of Tucholsky and Heartfield's images set out to create visual narratives that aimed to reveal the conditions of the Weimar Republic. It was effectively a collaborative work by Tucholsky and Heartfield. This is the first edition. A pioneering book in terms of both design and content.
