Very good copy. Boards possibly have been cleaned? Robinson advocates cremation over burial, at a time when cremation was essentially illegal. Robinson was latter to put into practice what he advocated and was instrumental in the founding of Golder's Green Crematorium and designed the gardens there, which replaced the traditional Victorian mourning graveyard with open lawn, flower beds, and woodland gardens.

The books assess the development of houses between the 11th and 16th centuries - from Norman to Tudor times. The archive of Anthony Emery, which comprises material that is the background to these comprehensive books, is held by Historic England at Swindon.
