b/w frontis, 63pp, 48 b/w photographic illustrations, Contrasting white and blue boards with lettered titles and gilt roundel of George Jackson (1766-1840) on front board. 4to. Weaver's concise account of the work of George Jackson & Sons which began with plaster work for Robert Adam and was to continue evolving new techniques and skills into the late 20th Century. Very good copy.

96pp, 130 b/w photographs also taken by the author. Small 4to. Very good with good dust wrapper. Concentrates on the eastern seaboard and South West Scotland. Very attractive and useful source for vernacular stone building in Scotland. From the collection of Althony Curtis Wolffe [architect] with his signature on the front end paper. Wolffe practised mainly in South West Scotland.

Wakefield The Fleece Press 2014

Fleece Press published these together in a very long accordion-fold book measuring 275mm square and extending to a gigantic 8 metres long. They are hard-bound in a design using the water colours, and held in a slipcase with a label. The artist has drawn a title page specially for the book, and has signed each of the 250 copies on the colophon. The images are of the transferware pottery – plates, mugs and jugs – found on her dresser. Loosely inserted in this copy is the original prospectus for the book with colour paste down illustrations.

166pp illustrated with colour plates. Large square 4to. Grey boards, white lettered spine, embossed titles on boards. Very good indeed. Review of the projects of the firm since it got going in 1993. Useful for the first projects of this firm which focuses on reuse and reinvention of buildings.

All three were originally published in the 'Architecture in Detail' Series: McCarter, 'Robert, Frank Lloyd Wright: Fallingwater' (1994). Weston, Richard, 'Alvar Aalto: Villa Mairea' (1992). Steele, James, 'Charles and Ray Eames: Eames House' (1994). Each house presented in this volume with photographs and detailed floorplans represents a high point in the œvre of their designers. Both Fallingwater and Villa Mairea were finished before the Second World War and display a luxurious approach to Modernism in contrast to Eames House (1994).

Number 1169 signed by George Him on the colophon. xxxiv, 215, (3) pages. Decorated cloth, gilt and black lettered spine. In original slip case. Very good but slip case a little worn. Illustrations by George Him, who by this time had split from his partnership with the artist Jan Hewitt which ended in 1955 when Hewitt left to pursue a painting career.

152 + [48]pp, b/w photographs throughout. Folio. Original red cloth with black lettering. Slightly frayed at the head and foot of spine. Binding a little shaky with short split along outer hinge. Trade catalogue from the 1920s for the Tynecastle Company, who specialised in wall coverings, mouldings, friezes and ornaments. Illustrated throughout with samples of individual products and examples of them in situ. The company was set up in 1885 by John and James Templeton to meet the demand for their leather-like canvas product, and ran in tandem with the original Scott Morton & Co. until they were incorporated in 1920. Iconic book which covers work by: Sculptors: Henry Moore, Barbara Hepworth; Painters: John Armstrong, John Bigge, Edward Burra, Tristram Hillier, Paul Nash, Ben Nicholson, Edward Wadsworth; Architects: Wells Coates, Colin Lucas. Unit One was a British grouping of Modernist artists founded by Paul Nash. Despite its brief period of activity, the group is regarded as influential in establishing the pre-eminence of London as a centre of modernist and abstract art and architecture in the mid-1930s.
