Booklet of 14 pages sewn to the front endpaper contains illustrations from Wright's photographs of dried weeds, the forms from nature inspiring Wright's "Sullivanesque" decoration. A faithful facsimile with cloth substituted for the leather binding of the original. laid in is a copy of a letter from W. R Hasbrouck, the publisher. Originally published in a signed limited edition of 90 copies. Sweeney 1530.

144pp illustrated with b/w plates grouped together after the text pages. Small 8vo. Good. Dust wrapper chipped and worn but protected in glassine. End papers slightly foxed. Fascinating publication on design remedies which can be achieved by using a consultant. A greater part of Mercer's life was spent working for The Studio and he was editor of Modern Publicity, Modern Posters and Art and Industry. He was on the board of the RSA for many years and this book was produced from a paper he wrote for the RSA and for which he was awarded a silver medal.

Blind stamped cloth. 3rd edition. 1856-1857 Originally produced [ in parts ] by Langley Banks, a specialist in staircase carpentry; Banks' own designs account for the first 27 of these plates and are signed; the remainder of the plates are by five other specialists (Mr Clarke, Mr Foster, Mr Galpin, Mr Weston). Vol1 Frontis showing Crystal Palace Staircase, title page,[4] 12pp + 24 plates with facing explanatory texts. Vo. 2 plates 25-53 with facing texts + [4]pp note at end on Mr Weston's handrailing system + 3 fold out plates of newel posts and hand railing examples, these last plates badly foxed. Traces the history of this key element in the urban form of London, documenting the design trends and designers including Repton and Loudon and other more often associated with the Country estate.

A fascinating study, tracing the development of domestic gardening from a necessity to a recreational and aspirational pursuit. The previously overlooked subject of domestic gardens in London compliments recent research into small urban houses.

Very good with slightly worn uniform dust jackets. Fascinating, and at the time novel approach to planning a sub regional stategy based around Livingstone New Town. The reports meld together socio-economic issues, researched at Glasgow University with Planning matters spearheaded from Edinburgh University b Robert H Matthew and Johnson Marshall. Comprehensive surveys made in the mid 1960s intended to lead to planning proposals which could be responsive to change through their flexibility.

Catalogue of paintings and drawings originally from the Wantage Collection, now at Betterton House. A beautiful collection of works by artists including Canaletto, Constable, Degas and many others. The vast majority of items are accompanied by a b/w reproduction.

Sixty-fifth thousand. 206pp + 5pp on paste downs as end paper + 1 additional page which are testimonials for the book. Specimen stamped on upper board and also front end paper. Chapters on food, drink, and cooking, but also washing, how to mind the baby and account keeping and health. Henrietta Barnett was a notable social reformer and active in founding Hampstead Garden Suburb.

Deckled edged pages. Slight foxing inside but book block generally very good indeed. Outer boards a little scuffed with a bump on the right edge of the upper board. Mark from what looks to be a sticker on the spine. Fourteen chapters addressing; Egyptian pigments, Classical Mediums, Fresco Painting, Illuminated Manuscripts, Oil Paint etc.

Green cloth covered boards with gilt lettering on spine and gilt Mediaeval figure embossed onto upper board. Decorated end papers. Dust wrapper chipped at base, top and edges of spine. Price clipped. Splattering of faint fox marks on prelims else very good indeed. James S Richardson was the first H.M. Inspector of Ancient Monuments of Scotland.
