New impression. xii + 1752 pp illus with more than 3000 engravings by R Branston Gilt decorated full calf with stamp of Queens College Cork on upper board. Front end paper slightly browned with rather unsightly penned numbers 1936 written else very nice copy with Prize label from Queens College Cork on verso of half title. Prize awarded to Henry O'Neil. Embossed stamp of a previous owner on prelims "Tomgar House, Balleycana, Gorey". A remarkable survival in this condition. Important period encyclopaedia covering a huge range of subjects relating to building construction, building materials and mechanics of construction, bridge buildings and so on.
