Engraved admission card. b/w. 150x105mm Created from the frontis piece used for The Anniversary, or Poetry and Prose for 1828 after artwork by Clarkson Stanfield and engraved by William Raymond Smith. [1818-1848] The image depicts an Italianate classical landscape with water and a country house [?] in middle ground and rotunda within the frame of an archway with scattered framed paintings and urns against the arch." Admit …". On the bottom left corner of the card, implies this was an a country house sale [?] admission card or an admission card for an exhibition. Country house sales of paintings at this time were a major fixture of the British art market. .Card slightly dusty with a scuff mark on right side. Staining on verso suggest it may have been in a scrapbook at some point in its history.
