First edition. Original cloth binding with gilt lettered spine and gilt lettering to front board. 14 tinted lithographic plates, including title page. Large 4to. Spine in poor and friable condition. Gilt lettering still readable but most of the rest of the spine is chipped or missing. Boards good. Internally good except last three plates are badly foxed. Tissue guards to some plates. The plates include: York Cathedral from the South East, North West/West Front/The Nave/The Choir (4 separate plates); St Mary's Abbey; Monk Bar; Walmgate Bar; Micklegate Bar; Bootham Bar; Castle Yard; Water Lane. Francis Bedford, son of an architect, began his career as an architectural draughtsman and lithographer, before taking up photography. JISC Library hub lists 4 locations where the title is held. Hard to find.
