In manuscript notes book awarded to Godfrey Clarke for French & Classics. The school was founded in 1597 by Richard Platt, owner of a City of London brewery and Master of the Worshipful Company of Brewers. Aldenham's foundation stone was laid in 159.7 E R and the date 1597 appear on the upper board along with the heraldic shield of the school.
