All illustrated with b/w photographs and some plans and line ills. Very useful gazetteer of major survivals from the period. The books assess the development of houses between the 11th and 16th centuries - from Norman to Tudor times. The archive of Anthony Emery, which comprises material that is the background to these comprehensive books, is held by Historic England at Swindon.
