The Gold Coast's Participation in the British Empire Exhibition 1924 ordered by his Excellency the Governor.
Gold Coast, Accra 1025
29pp description on the exhibition and the arrangements for African participants in terms of accommodation, facilities, trips etc. Fascinating period report describing the development of the project for a village and pavilion representing the Gold Coast and West African colonies. The London Gold Coast Committee was presided over by Lady Guggisberg then John Maxwell. The exhibit was designed and constructed by MacAlpine and the whole report written from a British perspective. The report includes very useful insights into how ethnic groups were involved in the exhibition. Lists those who loaned material, a list divided racially between British and African lenders. Flimsy wrapper which are partially detached and chipped.
