List of works include drawings for Shakespeare's Sonnets and other illustrated works, 89 numbers + numbers listed 90-115 which are portraits and studies and finally a series of caricatures separately numbered 1-71. The catalogue also notes a number of books for sale at the gallery published respectively by John Lane and J M Dent illustrated by Opsovat. Wrappers slightly browned else good copy. Selling exhibition held soon after the artist's death. Effectively this is a catalogue for a memorial exhibition. He had exhibited at the Ballie Gallery during his lifetime. Opsovat was a painter, draughtsman, illustrator and caricaturist. He was born in Russia of Jewish parents, moved with them and settled in Manchester where he studied at the Manchester School of Art, winning a scholarship in 1897 to the South Kensington Schools (Royal College of Art). Influenced by the Pre-Raphaelites, he is best known as an illustrator of Shakespeare, Matthew Arnold and Browning.
