Costumes of the Modern Stage

London John C Nimmo 1889 , King William Street 1889-1900

4 pages + 3 full page hand coloured illustration by Steinlen Mesples and signed in the plates. Produced for Review in three acts and nine tableau entitled "The Paris Exposition" by M M Blondeau and Monreal represented for the first time at the Theatre des Varieties, Paris 20th November 1889. Beautiful decorated wrappers. 4to. Very good. The text is a personal critique of the production for which the costumes were designed. Noted on wrappers that it is Part II of a larger publication. Each part however stands alone as each part as they were dedicated for a separate production at the Atheneum. A twenty part series of Costumes for the Stage was announced to be published but it seems only 5 parts were actually produced and each for individual plays. These turn up separately.
