Bound together are the following parts: Of Landscape pp1-127 + list of 48 plates + pp contents page then bound following the 48 plates but lacking no 16, 25, 27 and 39. A Compendium of Colors and other Materials used in the Arts dependant on Design…... pp224. Title page to a Dictionary of History of Art with parallel title page to On Landscape 1808 202 + [2pp] followed by 224pp of a section called "A Dictionary of Principles and Terms of Art adopted in the Arts of Design in their various branches". Directions to the Binder, followed by plates, form the last pages of this volume. All present as a group. Final plate "Grace, principles of as suggested by Mr Hogarth" is a fold out and badly folded and frayed at edge with some loss. A Concise History of the Arts of Design. 132pp No title page but preceded by two sepia plates and includes a further 5 making 7 in all to part 1 of this section of the publication. Part 2 of A Concise History of The Arts of Design. Part the Second. 148pp not illustrated. This is a complex publication which was issued in serial parts and purchasers could select to purchase only the parts they required and had them bound together. This version is bound in green cloth with gilt lettering on the spine giving the title as The Artist's Repository. Rebacked to make a good copy. Four volumes were produced in all although there are no volume numbers indicated on the printed pages. This one volume comprises the parts which formed Volume III and 1V of the whole work . Other parts of this work [ not present here] were issued as Volume I Lectures with plates on the Human Figure and Volume II Lectures on Perspective and Architecture. This volume has the bookplate on the front paste down of painting conservator Gillian Lewis. The first edition of this work was issued c 1794.
