Milner Gray is a key figure in Industrial Design education and practice in the UK and by the time of this book coming out he had successfully helped in the UK to institute the Design at Home exhibition of 1945 and the Britain Can Make It exhibition of 1946. He was also one of the cofounders, with Misha Black and Herbert Read, in establishing the Design Research Unit (DRU) in 1943 and organisation which is key in developing post war design brands in the UK and beyond.
