Six Welsh Costumes

Set of six black and white engravings with tissue guards. This set comprises: 1. Farmer's daughters, Farm Servant, Market Woman, Farmer's Wife., 2. Welsh Costumes no 2., 3. Market Scene North Wales. 4. Going to Market. 5. Market Scene, Cardiganshire, 6. The Bidding. [after 'The Bidding' attributed to Richard Dadd, c. 1840] Newman and Co. produced prints of Welsh costumes in the second half of the 19th century for the tourist market and were sold locally. Some of these images bear the name of the seller which was D LL Lewis of Rhyl.. All these prints have been mounted in the past but are now preserved in a modern gilt lettered folder.
