Plates on stubs. The designs of each theatre are documented and illustrate part of Haussmann's reconstruction of Paris. Scarce book. Davioud was architect (1862) for the Théatre du Chatelet. The Théâtre-Lyrique (now the Théâtre de la Ville) was designed by the architects Jacques-Ignace Hittorff and Alphonse Cusin and the theatres faced each other across La Place du Chatelet. The text describes the construction history of these building and is supported by superb plates which detail the layout of the auditoria etc.
