Some edge wear else very good. Text in Italian. The engravings provide extensive coverage of the numerous sculptures and wall paintings in the interior of the building, as well as ground plans and perspective views supported by text in Italian. Internally a very bright copy. One of series of publications documenting the churches of Rome - forms the second part of the author's "Quattro principali basiliche di Roma," which document the four papal basilicas of Rome. Each volume stands alone as a monograph on an individual building. The basilica is commonly known as Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore renowned for its fabulous mosaics and statuary and decor some of which is recorded here and is named after Pope Liberius
