A unique collection of 76 sepia photographs, each 220x280mm, mounted in a paper-leaved album, quarter morocco with cloth-backed boards. Long 4to. Spine and corners rubbed. Inner hinge detached. Paper mounts friable. The photographs, however, are in very good condition. The images predominately feature French period light fittings inside and out - including wall brackets, chandeliers, standard lamps, candlesticks and lanterns - from all periods of history. Most have captions and many are from museums and other historical locations in and around Paris (including Versailles). Others are from different parts of France. Possibly a personal source book for a designer, this album is an invaluable and detailed visual and historical source for the design of light fittings. With the name J.W. Basley inside front cover.
